Bandpass Design has introduced the Battleground configuration of The Dresden, a convertible dining and wargaming table built with a recessed game vault large enough to hold a standard 44" × 60" Warhammer 40,000 Strike Force battlefield with room to spare. The vault measures 72" × 48", giving tabletop players a permanent indoor playing surface inside a piece of furniture that also serves as a full dining table.
The Battleground addresses a practical problem familiar to miniature wargamers. A complete Warhammer 40,000 battlefield requires a sizable, level surface, yet few households can dedicate an entire room to a gaming table. The Dresden Battleground allows the same table to function as everyday dining furniture when its leaves are in place, then convert to a dedicated wargaming surface when the dining top is removed to reveal the 3 1/4"-deep recessed vault underneath.

That depth and footprint distinguish the Battleground from the Standard and XL versions of The Dresden. While the smaller configurations suit board games and card play, the Battleground is the only version with enough vault width and length to accommodate a full 44" × 60" battlefield. In its dining configuration, the table extends to a 96" × 64" surface and includes eight player stations fitted with card slots, counter holders, and cup holders.
The timing follows the shift toward indoor play during the fall and winter months, when tabletop gamers gather more often around a home table. Many players rely on folding tables or temporary setups that must be assembled and cleared away for each session. The Dresden Battleground offers an alternative in which a single piece of furniture handles both daily meals and large-scale wargaming without the recurring setup.
"Wargamers have told us for years that the hardest part of the hobby is finding the space," said AJ Hansen of Bandpass Design. "The Battleground was built around a real measurement. A standard Warhammer 40K battlefield is 44 by 60 inches, and the Dresden vault is 72 by 48 inches, so the full battlefield fits with margin on every side."
Hansen noted that the design keeps the table at home in a main living space. "A folding table has to come out and go away every time," he said. "The Dresden stays set as a dining table, and when it is time to play, the top lifts off and the battlefield is already there waiting."
Each Dresden table is handcrafted in the Bandpass Design workshop in Edmonds, Washington, using solid hardwoods including walnut, cherry, white oak, and maple. The gaming surface is made from durable bamboo, and customers can choose the hardwood used for different parts of the table.
Bandpass Design specializes in modern board game tables built for homeowners who want furniture that doubles as a gaming surface. The company produces The Dresden Board Game Dining Table, The Firefly Board Game Coffee Table, and The Mimosa Playing Card Table, along with The Eolian board game shelf. Each piece is constructed to serve as both functional furniture and a lasting gaming surface for use across generations.
